The domestication of the horse altered the whole concept of human life. The use of horses eliminated much of the manual labor needed to move people and supplies, and increased the range of available land use. Furthermore, the horse herds, which in themselves provided many of the necessities of life - milk, meat, hides and  even dung to start fires - resulted in the development of horse cultures the had far reaching effects upon the history of mankind.
