Akhal-Teke

This dessert breed is renowned for it's stamina and endurance over server terrain and harsh climates. It has a very distinctive appearance which is not often regarded in the west as desirable. The Akhal-Teke stands at about 15.2 hands, has a long back, an unusually pronounced muscular head that sits a top a long neck. This head position, which is not appreciated in the west, lends itself to to be carried "above the bit", or above the rider's hands, and can reduce the rider's control.
